Crossing the border line

The fashion world is embracing the transsexuals like they did in the 60s and 70s. The difference now is that mystery has been replaced with empowerment, even pride. Consider a few happenings:

The Japanese Vogue Hommes revealed its new male model; Jo Calderone,
who was, in actually, Lady Gaga.
The public is much more aware of the possibilities of transgender people existing and taking part as leaders in the social and cultural life. "They are always going to be people who don't fit into boxes," said Victoria Kolakowski, who was elected a superior court judge in Alamenda Country, California.

"What we consider to be normal is evolving and changing.
That frightens many people, but it's the nature of our times.
"

Moonlighting fashionistas dabbling in cross-dressing have surely helped advance the transsexual image, but the real strides in 2010 were made by the actual transsexuals and those who define themselves on a spectrum of gender rather more than simply male or female. The clearest example of this was the arrival of the transsexual model Lea T.

Fashion trends like the 'boyfriend jeans' and the 'male suits' are signs of the 'male revolution' on women. Will at the end, all women dress up like men? What will happen to the femininity? And men? Will they appear in sexy lingerie, attractive red lips with smokey eyes? Maybe we don't even sense a change in society because all the above mentioned is going to become normal..

  1. I'm trying to picture Mr. Wammes with smoky eyes right now...it's a little difficult to manage. I think it's interesting that women can more easily cross over into men's fashion. I have a fashion question: What do you think about the return of 50s fashion? My favorite store in the US (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/division.do?cid=5002)had an autumn Mad Men collection, and I love this style!!
